- Tech road tested vehicle with customer and verified noise, sounded like from driver side front wheel area, (possible wheel bearing or differential bearing). Inspected front differential fluid and found fluid is worn with slight metallic material, recommend servicing front differential. While vehicle was on the rack, ran vehicle between 10-20 MPH, was not able to recreate original noise noted when road testing with customer, but a more high pitch noise at driver side wheel bearing / 4WD vacuum actuator is present, (see video supplied by the tech). Recommend having the previous dealer that replaced the driver side front wheel bearing assembly re-inspect repairs for proper installation. Tech road tested vehicle with CT to Keyah Grande and back with no noise noted, unable to pinpoint source of customers noise at this time. Recommend returning after driver side frt wheel bearing has been re inspected or if noise becomes more consistent. (during road test noted brake pulsation is present. Worn, warped rotors can create abnormal noises. Recommend correcting brake pulsation by resurfacing rotors if able or replacing rotors, (would need to perform a brake inspection to verify which rotors are affected).
- General Inspection – Priority List: Priority One: 1. Inspect driver side wheel bearing installation due to noise at 4WD vacuum actuator, 2. reevaluate customers concerned noise, 3. brake inspection due to pulsation, 4. brake flush, 5. diagnose oil leak, 6. front differential service. Priority Two: 1. front struts rear shocks, 2. clear codes and reevaluate, 3. both belts Priority Three: 1. spark plugs, 2. coolant flush, 3. air filter. SEL- Code list: control interface codes u0155, u0253, u0401, u0 452. instrument cluster code u0140. power steering control module code u0401. Recommend to clear all codes and reevaluate at next oil change Oil Life %: no oil change sticker to reference to. Engine Oil: extremely dark recommend performing oil change. Brake Fluid: brake fluid is highly contaminated recommend performing flush. Power Steering Fluid: na Belts (Serpentine, Accessory, V-drive): both belts are the original equipment recommend replace by mileage Shocks / Struts: front struts and rear shocks are original equipment recommend replace by mileage only Differential fluid- Frt and/or rear: front differential fluid is a little worn with signs of very little metallic material recommend to perform flush. Rear differential fluid looks newer. Under vehicle fluid leaks: engine is leaking oil from bottom rear of motor suspecting possible rear main and/or oil pan. Recommend to clean and add dye By time and / or mileage: At 100,000 miles manufacturer recommends replace engine coolant, rear differential fluid, and spark plugs. At 120,000 miles manufacturer recommends to replace air filter.
