Recommend diag of ecm codes first Engine Oil – Level good condition dirty Cables / Connections – Slight grime build up Recomend terminal service Brakes (Pads/Shoes) – Rear brakes appear slightly low. Recommend inspection By time and / or mileage. – Recommended to replace atf fluid and brake fluid.
  • Reinstalled drain plug with new gasket. Removed and replaced filter. Installed 5qt of 0w20 with one can of BG MOA. Confirmed oil level is correct and no leaks are present. Stickered vehicle for 5000 miles.
  • Raised vehicle and rotated wheels at 25 MPH, verified noise at driver side rear wheel bearing assembly, recommending replacing and retesting for any additional wear items. As for the passenger side knock type noise, inspected control arm bushing along with steering and suspension components, found slightly bushing worn but not bad at this time. Lower vehicle and tested steering with full weight of vehicle and found slight noise in passenger side strut mount assembly but inconsistent.

Recommend further diag of all codes not addressed in work order Oil Life % – Unknown Lights (Head, Brake, Turn) – License plate bulb out Engine Oil – Dark in color and barley showing on dip stick Exhaust System – Missing bolt in exhaust manifold connection to down pipe Under vehicle fluid leaks. Multiple fluid leaks – Valve covers, Oil pan, Lower coolant hose Trans cooler lines at radiator, VVT solenoids, Oil pressure sensor. By time and / or mileage. – Oil change

  • Replaced oil filter.
  • drained and refilled with 4.4 quarts 5W30 synthetic blend, replaced oil filter, installed new sticker set for 3000 miles at 245,042, current odometer is at 242,042, verified oil level is full, during oil change found oil was extremely metallic, recommend to replace engine.
  • SEL is most likely on due the lost of engine oil, causing issues with valvetrain system that relies on good clean oil pressure. See notes on oil change line.
  • Recommending converting system back to factory and retest for any additional faults.

  • General Inspection – Priority List – Priority One: 1. brake flush, 2. transmission flush, 3. clear codes Priority Two: 1. air filter, 2. bulbs,3. windshield Inspection Findings – SEL- Code list- multiple codes recommend to clear codes and reevaluate Windshield / Glass – windshield is cracked recommend to replace Lights (Head, Brake, Turn) – passenger side brake light and third brake light is out recommend to replace bulbs and recheck Brake Fluid – brake fluid test came back bad recommend brake flush Power Steering Fluid – looks like power steering pump has some seepage on it, recommend to keep an eye on Air Filter – air filter is dirty recommend to replace Transmission fluid – transmission fluid is a little discolored recommend transmission flush Driveline (Axles / CV Shafts) – passenger inner CV boot is starting to seep recommend to keep an eye on Exhaust System – found broke clamp is rattling on exhaust, suspecting this is customers complaint, going to cut clamp off
  • Performed idle test and verified rattling noise on acceleration. Raised vehicle to inspect, found broken exhaust heat shield clamp and found an installed hose clamp in its place. Removed hanging exhaust clamp and road tested vehicle. Verified rattling noise is gone but slight growling noise noted during vehicle road test. Raised vehicle again and found exhaust muffler compacted with ice, removed ice and re tested verifying a reduction in growling noise. Advise customer to return if noise returns or continues, would recommend inspecting again on a day that is clearer.

  • Scanned vehicle for ECU codes, no stored codes at time of scanning, road tested vehicle and verified hesitation 1 time. During road test found MAF sensor reading were a little high, inspected MAF sensor for restriction or debris, did not find any issues, cleaned MAF sensor and re road tested.
  • General Inspection – Priority List – Priority One 1 brake inspection 2 diag horn Priority Two 1 diag tpms with tire shop Wheel weight…… all weights seem to be present. Huge build up of mud dirt and snow I. Rear tires will clear all debris Inspection Findings – SEL- Code list – One tpms code Other – Horn doesn’t work suggest diag Brakes (Pads/Shoes) – Rear pads look low recommend inspection Tire pressure & condition – Set to 35 psi.
  • Reinstalled drain plug with new gasket. Lowered vehicle and w placed oil filter. Filled engine with 5.1 qt of 0w20 w one can of MOA. Confirmed no leaks and fluid level correct. Stickered vehicle for 5000 miles
  • Removed which is now number two ignition coil and replaced it with new. Road tested vehicle 15 miles confirming misfire and customer's concern of hesitation is no longer present.

  • Concern: customer States mission and dynamic control lights are on would like us to run scan to see what exactly going on. customer also stated that vehicle has a hesitation while acceleration. How customers concern was verified: scan vehicle and do confirm that code p0171 for system 2 lean bank 1 is present. Describe testing performed: clear codes and road test vehicle 10 mi unable to duplicate customers concern of hesitation but was able to confirm fuel trims to be in the +15 at idle. During general inspection did find that air filter is dirty and needs to be replaced. using freeze frame found code was set on the initial cold start. allowed vehicle to set overnight and retested first thing and morning confirming when vehicle goes into closed loop field trim started dropping to +35. removed mass air flow sensor and found no obvious faults but cleaned and retested confirming fuel trims are now within spec. Explain repair recommendation: test results show that a dirty mass air flow sensor is fault for lean codes to be present. was unable to duplicate customers concern of hesitation but a faulty mass air flow sensor could cause customers concern. Parts and Labor needed for repairs: recommending to remove and replace both mass air flow sensor and air filter.
  • General Inspection: priorities. 1. brake inspection. 2. air filter / mass air flow sensor. 3 oil change. 4 battery. 5. license plate lights. 6. windshield. CEL- Code list: she work order for engine code p0171. body integrated unit code b1407. tire pressure monitoring code c2022, c2521. recommended clear all other codes and reevaluate next oil change. Oil Life %: no oil change sticker to reference to. Windshield / Glass: windshield is cracked recommend to have replaced. Lights (Head, Brake, Turn): license plate lights are out recommend to replace bulb and recheck. Engine Oil: engine oil is extremely black recommend to perform oil change. Power Steering Fluid: n/a. Air Filter: air filter is dirty recommend to replace. Battery Condition: battery is testing app 380 cold cranking amps specs supposed to be 555. there is some corrosion build up on top and it is the original Subaru battery recommend to replace due to age and testing low. Brakes (Pads/Shoes): rear brake pads are extremely low recommend performing brake inspection.
  • After oil change: drained and refilled with 5.1 quarts 0w20 full synthetic and a can of moa, replaced oil filter, new sticker set for 5000 miles at 84,764, current odometer is at 79,764, verified oil level is full.
  • Removed and replaced mass air flow sensor and drove 10 miles confirming repairs.
  • Final Tech Notes and Checklist: battery, maf, air filter. Repairs performed: removed and replaced battery and perform battery terminal service, replaced air filter.

  • SEL- Code list: multiple codes, recommend to further diagnose engine code. Cabin air filter: cabin air filter is a little dirty recommend to replace. Air Filter: air filter is dirty recommend to replace. Battery Condition: good, recommend to recharge. Brakes (Pads/Shoes): rear pads look like they're starting to get a little low, recommend brake inspection.
  • Concern : customer States vehicle has intermittent hesitation while accelerating. How customers concern was verified?: road test vehicle 10 miles and was not able to verify concern. Describe testing performed : scanned vehicle and had code p0302 for cylinder two misfire, pulled cylinder to spark plug and GAP was out of spec, also pulled air filter and air filter was dirty. Explain testing results/ conclusion : recommend to replace all spark plugs, spark plug boots and air filter. Parts and Labor listing : 1.8 hrs. Explain Repairs : BG air induction service. Removed and replaced spark plugs air filter and cabin air filter Results of retesting after repair: Road tested vehicle additional 10 miles while monitoring live stream data. Found vehicle to run smooth with no hesitation. And registered no misfires. Fuel trim was fluctuating slightly on test drive but settled out by end of 10 miles. Re scanned vehicle and found zero trouble codes.

  • Test Drive vehicle to verify customer concern. Check and inspect suspension & steering components: ball joints, tie rods, idler/pitman arms, springs, bushings, shafts, struts/shocks and all applicable items for damage. Found noise to be coming from both wheel wells, although struts are leaking they have yet to become weak and are not making any noise and pass bounce test.
